Bonus Resource- Understanding Sensory Eating
Understanding Sensory Eating Have you ever wondered why your child happily eats one food but refuses another that seems almost identical? Or why certain textures, smells or even the environment at mealtimes can have such a big impact on what they will eat? In this guide, we'll explore how your child's sensory preferences may be influencing their relationship with food. You'll learn about the eight sensory systems, discover how they can affect eating, and gain practical, pressure-free strategies to help your child feel more comfortable and confident around food. Rather than trying to change your child, this guide is designed to help you better understand their unique experiences. By recognising patterns and making small, supportive changes, you'll be able to create calmer mealtimes and build positive food experiences that encourage confidence over time. Remember, sensory preferences are just one piece of the feeding puzzle, but understanding them can often make a real difference to how you support your child.
