Toddler & Picky Eating Support
Making Mealtimes Easier for Toddlers
Gentle, practical support to help your toddler eat with confidence — and make mealtimes calmer for everyone.
Toddler feeding challenges like food refusal, throwing food, or sticking to a few “safe” meals are incredibly common. They can leave you stressed and worried, but you’re not alone. I’m Dr Kirsty Porter, a children’s dietitian with 16+ years of experience helping families across the UK and Ireland. I use calm, realistic strategies that work in real life to make mealtimes easier, more positive, and far less stressful.
Why Toddler Feeding Can Be Stressful
Feeding challenges are very common in toddlers — especially between ages one and three. Sometimes it’s just a normal part of growing up, but other times it can feel overwhelming.
There are lots of reasons your toddler might struggle with food, including:
- Refusing to try new foods or suddenly dropping foods they used to enjoy
- Only eating “safe” or beige foods
- Showing anxiety or frustration around mealtimes
- Throwing food, refusing to sit at the table, or having mealtime meltdowns
- Struggling with textures, smells, or tastes of certain foods
What can look like “being difficult” is often your toddler’s way of showing they feel unsure or out of control around food. The good news? With gentle, consistent support, toddlers can start to feel relaxed, confident, and curious at mealtimes again.
Work with Dr. Kirsty
I use a calm, no-pressure approach that helps children feel safe and curious around food. No stress, no forcing bites, no “clean plate” rules. We’ll work together to reduce mealtime stress, introduce new foods at your child’s pace, and create simple routines that help everyone feel more relaxed.
